RECLAMATION PLAN AND COST ESTIMATION
ROCK TUNNEL pAD EXPANSION

The techn~.ca1 zev~.s~,on plan to expand the rock
tunnel pad by .4 of an acre Will require filling ~:n an area
between Dutch Creek and the present pad and road area with
materials now being mined in the tunnel construction. The
plan calls for approximately 10,000 cu. yards of £ill to
expand the pad by .9 of an acre.
The reclamation plan for this expansion will be
to remove this fill and place it up against the tunnel
portals highwall. This will be accomplished as part of the
overall backfilling and grading operation when mining
operations cease, structures have been removed and the portals
sealed. The work will be accomplished by a D-8 dozer.
The reclamation cost estimate calculations are
as follows:
The average push distance is 400 feet and a
D-8L dozer can push. 275 cubic years per hour that distance
on level ground, or half that much up a 2 to 1 slope. Since
about 1/4th of the push distance is up a slope the dozer can
average 2Q0 cubic yards per hour in moving the fill material
back up against the portals highwall.

147
