We would request that we~be able to use the top of the
first lift of the present tunnel rock pile to temporarily store raw coal
from No. 2 Mine (up to 50,000 tons); "temporary" meaning up to six months.
The complete tunnel program calls for up to 100,000 tons of coal storage
in underground bunkers. This program should be finished within two to
three yaars. In the meantime, it is apparent that we periodically will
need. an emergency overflow area for No. 2 Mine coal.
The area utilized for coal storage would be approximately 200 feet
wide, 350 feet long and 65 feet high--see enclosed sketch.
This area is all compacted tunnel rock and is completely enclosed
by a sediment control system. The coal would be placed in this area by
truck and loaded out by front-end loader and truck. We would like to
commence this operation as soon as possible.
Please call me if you need any additional information.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~
Environmental Coordinator
•
DWBowman:ms
si
. , ~ : ~:~.
