•~
ANNUAL REPORT
PERMITEE NAME: The Regents of the University of Colorado
PERMIT NO: M-1981-302
OPERATION NAME: Deepe Farm Pit
ANNIVERSARY DATE: Apri19, 2008
ANNUAL FEE DUE: $791.00
COUNTY: Boulder
From April, 2007 thru March, 2008 no mining or reclamation activities have occurred on
the Deepe Farm Pit mining area with the exception of on-going weed management, as
needed. Additionally, cattle grazing activities have occurred on a portion of the pit site
which has assisted in keeping the weeds under control. The University has also
contracted for the services of a goat herder to herd several tens of goats on portions of the
property to assist in weed management. These animal activities have proven to be very
successful in the management of weeds on the property. The grasses on the property are
thriving and weeds continue to be a non-issue on this Deepe Farm Pit site. Additionally,
this spring, the willow growth that had been occurring at the edges of the levee
embankment were eliminated.
In 2008-09, there are no plans to disturb any of those areas remaining within this permit.
However, if during our regular inspections we note areas where vegetative cover is
sparse, re-seeding will occur as needed. On-going weed management will also be
undertaken, as appropriate. The University may continue grazing the site during the next
year. No other activities are anticipated.
We have enclosed some photographs of the site in its current condition.
The University of Colorado will mail a check in the amount of $791.00 to cover the cost
of the annual fee.
We have also attached a map delineating the current mining site area.
The April semi-annual levee inspection report will be submitted to your office under
separate cover.
Following are representative photographs of the site as of 04-08-2008.
