SITE DESCRIPTION
SOILS INFORMATION
EXHIBIT B
There is no published soils data for this site. The follow-
ing information was obtained from site observations and have no
scientific basis. The mine lies along a lodgepole pine covered
hillside south of Red Dirt Road in Routt National Forest. The
site is covered with what is commonly called decomposed granite.
There is very little soil on the site and the decomposed granite
has a shallow covering of pine duff, and sparse vegetation common
to a lodgepole forest. The upper 1 or 3 inches of material will
be salvaged for use in revegetation.
VEGETATION INFORMATION
1. Current cover percent is: 25 to 40%
2. Topsoil depth on site averages: 0 to 3 inches
3. Seeding dates recommended: October 1 to May 1.
4. Fertilizer, if needed: Phosphate and nitrogen @ 250 lbs/ac.
5. Seeding recomm endation for area:
Non-Irrigated grass seed recommendation
Seed Rate PLS/acre
Big Bluegrass or
Canby Bluegrass 1.00
Mountain Brome 10.00
Big Wildrye 8.25
Slender Wheatgrass 5.75
25.00
This seed mix is a combination of native grasses and forbs
that are required by the United Sates Forest Service (USFS) and
the following information is incorporated from their recommenda-
tions for the site. This mix rate contains approximately 29.0
seeds per sq-ft/acre. The seed will be placed using hydroseeding '
method where 400 lbs/acre of fibermulch and 250 lbs/acre fertil-
izer is mixed with seed and water and sprayed on the seedbed. '
The site is a lodgepole pine covered hillside located in western ',
Grand County at an approximate elevation of 9050 feet msld. The '
Average annual browse production is negligible due to the forest
canopy. The plant community is 90 percent trees and loo grass,
forbs and brush. Most of the trees on the site have died dues to
the pine beetle epidemic ravaging Colorado forests at this time.
4 (revised 4/10/08)
