Current language: <br />Monitoring of water quality and water level (see Section 2.0 of the Water Monitoring Plan) shall occur at <br />least once per month for monitoring wells located in the mine panel. The monitoring wells listed in the <br />Plan shall be monitored as provided in Section 5.0. Five (5) quarters of additional data shall be collected <br />prior to the commencement of operations. The permittee must collect this additional baseline data for the <br />Alluvial Aquifer, the Upper Aquifer (A-Groove and Uinta Formation), and the Lower Aquifer (B-Groove <br />and Dissolution Surface). Additional monitoring wells maybe deleted or added to the monitoring <br />program, if necessary, as development of the commercial solution mining well field progresses, or as <br />warranted by monitoring results. This will be done by modifying the Water Monitoring Plan. <br />Proposed language: <br />Monitoring of water quality and water level shall occur according to the Water Monitoring Plan, <br />Appendix I. The permittee has already collected five (5) quarters of baseline data, prior to the <br />commencement of operations, for the Alluvial Aquifer, the Upper Aquifer (A-Groove and Uinta <br />Formation), and the Lower Aquifer (B-Groove and Dissolution Surface). Additional monitoring <br />wells may be deleted or added to the monitoring program, if necessary, as development of the <br />commercial solution mining well field progresses, or as warranted by monitoring results. This will <br />be done by modifying the Water Monitoring Plan (see Section D. 4th paragraph of Permit). <br />• Part II, C (6), Injection Fluid Limitation, the last paragraph of the section is proposed to be <br />changed as follows: <br />Current lan~ua~e: <br />Injection of any hazardous waste as identified by EPA under 40 CFR § 261.3 is prohibited. Upon a <br />major change in the fluid sources, the permittee must re-demonstrate compliance with 40 CFR § <br />262.11 (page 21 of the Water Monitoring Plan), Appendix I. <br />Proposed language: <br />Injection of any hazardous waste as identified by EPA under 40 CFR § 261.3 is prohibited. Upon a <br />major change in the fluid sources, the Permittee must re-demonstrate compliance with 40 CFR § <br />262.11. The Water Monitoring Plan (Appendix I) includes this requirement. <br />• Part II, D, Monitoring, 1st paragraph of the section is proposed to be changed as follows: <br />Current language: <br />The permittee is required to carry out the activities described in the monitoring plan. The data must be <br />reported and maintained as provided in Section II D.4 of the Permit. The 4th Revision of the Water <br />Monitoring Plan, dated December 23, 1999, has been incorporated into the Permit as Appendix I. <br />Proposed language: <br />The permittee is required to carry out -the activities described in the monitoring plan. The data <br />must be reported and maintained as provided in Section II D.4 of the Permit.
