The proper system for installation and removal of the hydrophones from the production <br />pipe must be defined to reduce risk of mechanical damage to the phones. In particular, <br />larger diameter sheaves with wider clearance should be used. <br />Installation, Operation, and Removal of Hydrophones <br />An effective technique to install the hydrophone cable in the production hole without <br />interrupting the production should be designed and tested. In particular, the temperature <br />of the production hole should not exceed 350 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the <br />survey. <br />Each survey cycle should be conducted in less than 7 to 8 hours to prevent prolonged <br />exposure of the hydrophones to the elevated temperature and aggressive brine under <br />increased hydraulic pressure. <br />Firing the Shots <br />The size of the charge should be fine-tuned to prevent saturation of the phones, <br />particularly for shots close to the hydrophone locations. <br />Additional testing of the multi-barrel gun is required to assure repeatable operation and to <br />reduce misfires or failures to fire. <br />The firing cycle should be automated so the charge goes off in less than 0.1 sec after <br />turning the firing system on. <br />The NSA triggering system should be better synchronized with the firing procedure and <br />technique used by Weatherford-We1lServ. In particular, a separate testing should be <br />conducted to assure reliable recording of an electric impulse when the shot goes off. <br />Legal Issues <br />If needed, a mutual confidentiality agreement should regulate legal protection of <br />proprietary systems and intellectual properties for the participants in developing the <br />Monitoring System recommended by NSA. <br />Additional Geological Information <br />Additional studies should be conducted to assess seismic velocity and/or elastic constants <br />for the members of the petrographic column for each well, or at least for an average mine <br />zone. This information is important for the proper configuration of the velocity models <br />required for the TRTTM imaging of caverns and structural anomalies that develop during <br />solution mining. <br />11 <br />
