<br />Wildlife Resources Assessment <br />Cemex "C" Pit and CKD Disposal Site <br />Page 8 <br />' Disturbed Sites: these areas, once vegetated, provide habitat similar to Tame Pasture and <br />Reclamation Sites, although generally of a lower value. <br />5.2 Natural Diversity Information Source <br />' - The Natural Diversity Information Source (NDIS) is the primary state level source of <br />data and analysis used for decisions on land-use affecting Colorado's animals, plants, and <br />natural communities. The lead agency for NDIS is the Colorado Division of Wildlife. <br />The NDIS information included herein was current as of May, 2000. The database was <br />searched for wildlife habitat of importance occurring on or near the Property with the <br />following selected results. <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />5.2.1 Wildlife Species List <br />A potential wildlife species list for the property was compiled from the NDIS database <br />for Boulder County for amphibians, birds, mammals and reptiles. This list was then <br />edited by the report preparer for the habitats present on the Property, and checked with <br />' appropriate literature review (Andrews and Righter 1992, Kingery 1998, Fitzgerald et al. <br />1994, and Hammerson 1999). Based upon this potential wildlife species list, suitable <br />habitat is found on the Property for 7 species of amphibians, 239 species of birds, 63 <br />' species of mammals and 19 species of reptiles. The complete results of the data run are <br />found in Appendix 2. <br />' S.3 Wildlife Species of Concern <br />Table 2 is a list of federal and state listed endangered and threatened species, and State of <br />Colorado listed "Species of Special Concern" that are potentially found on the Property. <br />' These species are discussed individually below. <br />' Habitat for the Northern Leopard Frog is found along St. Vrain Creek as well as the <br />wetlands and ponds on the site. The probability of occurrence is moderate. <br />Peregrine falcons have nested near Lyons in the past 15 years, but have not been <br />commonly present in breeding season in the past five years. This species is likely a rare <br />visitor to the site. <br />The Property is within the overall range of the Bald Eagle and Ferruginous Hawk, <br />which are regular and common winter visitors to the plant site. They primarily hunt <br />prairie dogs. Both the Lyons quarry and the northern portion of the Caribou springs <br />' property have had roost sites for both of these species. <br />Table 1.
