03/07/2008 08:05 801-284-4468 H. A.O.C.OF SALT LAKE PAGE 02
., ~
February 29, 200$
Division of Reclamatioc~, Mining 8t Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Attentiozt: Deb E. Zack
RE: Siloam Stone Mine
This letter is to request an inspection due to our belief that Siloam Stone is out of
compliance on the 160 acre grartdfathered mining lease in Pueblo County. As property
owners of a portion of the 160 acres, we feel that Siloam Stone is mining more than the
20 acres at any one time than is allowed. We also feel that they are not reclaiming the
amount of acreage required izt that 20 acre mine. Of the portion they state to have
reclaimed, we feel that they are not i~ compliance with what is required to be planted.
Xou may refer to the Pueblo County Planning Public Hearing dated February, 26, 2008
for SUP 2008-001 at which Siloam Stone was denied their request. You can access the
information froth their website at
h _//wwwco. ueblo.co.us/ Tannin Tannin cases/index. h ?dir=SUP%202008-001/
Ch go to the Pueblo County website and go to Plannitg Cases. I was informed by the
County Planning office that the minutes may take a couple of weeks to be posted since
they were taken by hand and the hearing was four hours long.
On this website, you will Hnd the submitted evide~ace presented to the Pueblo County
Planning Council Metttbers. Not only the minutes for the meeting, which we believe you
will find some questioxAable items, but pictures, statements and signatures of other
property owners at Red Creek Ranch and along Siloam Road. Also included, was a
satellite photograph map of Sectiozt 3b, the area of which Siloam Stone has a state
mineral lease. The aerial map shows just how much property is being mined. To our
unttaitted eye, it looks a lot larger. Xou will notice roads from the heavy equipmemt and
trucJ~s into other areas as well as small stashes of stockpiled rock. Are these included in
the total acreage allowed?
