III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br /> Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br /> during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br /> and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br /> This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of <br /> Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This processing and loadout site has been <br /> inactive since June 2001 after the closure of the Lorencito Mine (#C-96-084). Ground <br /> conditions on this day were dry with snow only in shaded and protected areas. The weather <br /> was mild and breezy. <br /> Availability of Records <br /> The public copy of the mine records is kept at the office of Peak Project Management (PPM). <br /> The contact, address, and phone number for PPM is Ron Thompson, Peak Project <br /> Management, 34115 County Road 20.8, Trinidad, CO 81082, 719-846-4975, Records were <br /> found in compliance as detailed on page 2a of this report <br /> Hydrologic Balance <br /> The mine dewatering pond remains inactive at this time awaiting installation of a pump into <br /> the mine workings. Pond 7 was also holding a small amount of water, well below the invert <br /> of the primary riser. The outlet gate on this pond was found closed as required. Pond 4 <br /> (shown below) controls runoff from the development waste pile and was found dry. Pond 8 <br /> at the Refuse Disposal Area held a modest amount of water. <br /> s <br /> 3 <br />
