Hydrologic Balance
Most ponds are dry or holding very little water. Ponds holding water include pond 9a (below
left) and pond 5 (below right), both well below the lowest discharge point on the primary riser
Frequent but moderate snowfall has resulted in little if any significant runoff as temperatures
have warmed this spring. Ditches and culverts appear in functional condition for the coming
rainfall months.
ReveQetation
New growth is just beginning to emerge on exposed, south-facing areas. Cicer milkvetch
and western wheatgrass were two cool season species observed sprouting. The operator is
reminded that the approved permit requires soil sampling and updating of tables depicting
sample analysis, soil suitability, and fertilizer recommendations. This additional information
is to be included as acquired in the annual reclamation report.
Excess Spoil
The three excess spoil fills showed no sign of slumps, slides, or damage of any kind.
Vegetation is established on the reclaimed outslopes and downdrains safely pass flows from
the fills and above the fills to sediment ponds below.
Overall, the area appeared in good condition for the early spring seas.
