Hydrologic Balance <br />Most ponds are dry or holding very little water. Ponds holding water include pond 9a (below <br />left) and pond 5 (below right), both well below the lowest discharge point on the primary riser <br />Frequent but moderate snowfall has resulted in little if any significant runoff as temperatures <br />have warmed this spring. Ditches and culverts appear in functional condition for the coming <br />rainfall months. <br />ReveQetation <br />New growth is just beginning to emerge on exposed, south-facing areas. Cicer milkvetch <br />and western wheatgrass were two cool season species observed sprouting. The operator is <br />reminded that the approved permit requires soil sampling and updating of tables depicting <br />sample analysis, soil suitability, and fertilizer recommendations. This additional information <br />is to be included as acquired in the annual reclamation report. <br />Excess Spoil <br />The three excess spoil fills showed no sign of slumps, slides, or damage of any kind. <br />Vegetation is established on the reclaimed outslopes and downdrains safely pass flows from <br />the fills and above the fills to sediment ponds below. <br />Overall, the area appeared in good condition for the early spring seas. <br />
