EXHIBIT D --Mining Plan
(a) Description of the method(s) of mining to be employed in each stage of the
operation as related to any surface disturbance on affected lands;
The affected area consists of an area of 61 total acres including the access road. The
site is located within the NE/4 of Section 23 and the NW/4 of Section 24, T12N,
R92W. Generally, aggregate materials will be removed off the slope/outcrop between
the toe and top of the slope across the small ridgeline as mining progresses from west
to east. Mining will expand from the previously mined area at the site. This "already
disturbed area" of approximately 2 acres (from the previous un-permitted historical
mining at the site) will be used to set-up process equipments and for temporary
product stockpiles.
Concurrent Reclamation of disturbed "mined" slope areas is planned. Current slope
areas have very low vegetation density due to the rocky thin topsoil and or thin cover
soils. The ~?reviously mined area has no current vegetation or existing cover/topsoil.
The West l/2 of the permit area will be mined for the aggregate materials present
expanding out of the "Old Pit". Generally, the East 1/2 of the permit area will be used
for a source area for surplus cover and topsoil for some eventual reclamation of the
Old Pit" area and slope areas where there is little to no existing cover/topsoils.
All areas of the site are currently classified as rangeland and all disturbed areas will
be reclaimed to rangeland. No wet-lands, or other water resources will be affected by
the site activities. All stormwater will be contained under the site SWMP and general
Stormwate;r Permit. Ditching, silt fencing, berms, bales and other site stormwater
BMP's wild be used as part of site stormwater controls.
The mine <~rea, as shown on the attached map, totals approximately 59.70 acres and
generally runs west to east along the ridgeline. The proposed 61 acre Permit Area
includes tlrie 1.3 acre area of the approximate 1.1 mile access road crossing the State
Lands to the south. Site equipment operations areas will be located, as already stated,
in the previous "small disturbed old pit area" located at the toe of the ridge nose and
on the top of the ridge where the site access is located at the terminus of the planned
road.
The area by the gate will be the final reclamation area at the site and will total less
than 3 acrf;s. Some of the disturbed original "Old Pit" area will be reclaimed as
requested by the landowner. Necessary cover soil for any reclamation of the old pit
would necessarily have to come from other areas of the site (the E %2 source area).
Any cover/topsoil source areas will have sufficient soil remaining and will be tilled
and seeded concurrent with the removal of the soil.
Mining activities will begin in both areas and expand across the site to the east and
south following the ridge following site road (only a 4x4 trail, currently). The
aggregate materials to be mined consist of terrace gravel deposits and eroded
sandstone rock following the slope toe above the dry creeks and into and up the slope
faces to the ridge-top. Aggregate materials will be removed generally facially off the
