1989 - 1990 ANNUAL REPORT FOR: QUEEN'S CANYON QUARRY

SUMMARY:
During the first half of the year a small
amount of mining occurred. In late February
1990 the operation was closed to further
mining. All lands are now under reclamation
activity.
RULE 2.41(1): LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES AFFECTED DURING
THAT YEAR.
During the first half of the permit year, the number of
acres affected changed little from the previous year. The
total affected land during that time remained at about 45 to
50 acres.
In late February Castle Concrete announced the closure
of this quarry to further mining. The only rock sold at
this quarry will be that which is still present in
stockpiles. Therefore, as of that announcement the entire
operation was shifted into a total reclamation mode.
The Mountain Scar Commission performed an extensive
analysis of possible visual mitigation approaches that could
be used in the reclamation process. Many of these
recommendations have been taken under consideration.
RULE 2.41(2): LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR
THAT YEAR.
Approximately 25 acres of land was placed under f:tnal
reclamation in the last year. Much of this land was outside
the actual permit boundary and was in the Tract 2 area
uphill from the permit. Grading and backfilling plans for
other areas of the quarry are currently under examinat:.on
for implementation through an ongoing process spread over
the next few years.
