re: Northfield Coal Mine surface facilities and subsidence sensitive zone
Dear Angela,
Enclosed please find seven copies of our report on the inventory of the surface facilities and
reconnaissance of the subsidence sensitive zone for the Northfield Coal Mine in Fremont County,
Colorado. As a result of this inventory, three new historic sites and two new isolated finds were
discovered and recorded. The historic sites include an abandoned railroad grade (SFN2217.1), a
historic inscription (SFN2220), and a historic sheltered camp (SFN2221). All three have been
recommended as not eligible for inclusion on the NRHP and no further work is recommended.
The two isolated finds (SFN2218, SFN2219) are historic and- prehistoric in nature and are by
definition not eligible for inclusion on the NRHP. No further work is recommended. MAC
recommends a finding of "no historic properties affected" for the project as staked at the time of
survey.
One copy is to be forwarded to the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), as noted, and one
to the Division of Reclamation and Mining Safety, also as noted. One copy, as noted, is for your
records.
