Production <br />(Table 10) <br />Total average production was 647.7 Ibs per acre. Native perennial cool season grasses <br />contributed the most with an average production of 440.7 Ibs per acre. Native perennial forbs <br />contributed 182.0 Ibs per acre. Native annual and biennial forbs, introduced annual and biennial <br />forbs and introduced annual grasses were also present, each with less than 15 pounds per acre. <br />SAGEBRUSH EXTENDED REFERENCE AREA <br />(Photographs 26-33 in Appendix 5) <br />Cover <br />(Table 11) <br />Native shrubs were the most abundant lifeform in the Sagebrush Extended Reference Area, <br />making up 37.1 percent toward the total 70.6 percent vegetation cover (all hits). Within this <br />group, big sagebrush (Seriphidium tridentatum) and mountain snowberry (Symphoricarpos <br />rotundifolius) were most common, having 17.3 and 15.3 percent total vegetation all-hit cover, <br />respectively. Native perennial cool season grasses were the second most common life form <br />contributing 18.5 percent total vegetation all-hit cover. Agassiz bluegrass (Poa agassizensis) and <br />slender wheatgrass (Elymus trachycaulus) were the most abundant of this group (9.7 and 3.1 <br />percent total vegetation all-hit cover respectively). Native perennial forbs were the third most <br />abundant group contributing 11.1 percent total vegetation all-hit cover, comprised by numerous <br />species with low percent cover values and lacking dominant species. Weedy milkvetch <br />(Astragalus miser var. oblongifolius) and western yarrow (Achilles lanulosa) had the highest <br />percent cover values of the native perennial forbs (2.1 and 1.9 percent total vegetation all-hit <br />cover respectively). <br />Total average vegetation cover, for first hits, was 63.1 percent. Total average vegetation cover, <br />for all hits, was 70.6 percent. Standing dead, litter, bare soil, and rock each had 3.0, 17.5, 16.3, <br />and 0.1 percent cover, respectively (first hits). Average species density was 24.4 species per 100 <br />sq.m. <br />Production <br />(Table 12) <br />Total average production was 897.5 Ibs per acre. Native perennial cool season grasses and <br />native perennial forbs contributed the most with an average production of 451.4 and 369.4 <br />Ibs/acre respectively (together making up approximately 92% of the total production). Introduced <br />annual grasses contributed 66.0 Ibs per acre. Native annual and biennial forbs and introduced <br />annual and biennial forbs were also present, each with less than 10 pounds per acre. <br />10 <br />
