(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1978-357
INSPECTION DATE: 3/13/2008
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS THM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The Bradbury Pit is located immediately west of Highway 50 approximately 15
miles southeast of Grand Junction, Colorado. The site is a 112c operation. Ed Settle of Grand Junction Pipe
Company accompanied the inspector during the inspection.
The mine identification sign and the affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with rule 3.1.12.
The sign is located on a post at the main entrance on the west side of the gravel mine. The permit boundary is
comprised of a fence that is easily identifiable around the entire perimeter of the mine.
Minimal activity was observed during the inspection. A few stockpiles with processed material were observed
within the permit area. A truck scale was recently removed from the mine due to a lack of activity. Most of the
slopes within the permit area had been reclaimed to slopes that appeared to be no steeper than 3H:1 V. A high wall
located at the west end of the mine was the only active face observed within the permit area. No evidence of major
storm water erosion was observed during the inspection.
Various weeds were observed within the permit boundaries. Tamarisk was observed within the permit area;
Tamarisk is listed as a noxious weed and will hinder the ability of native plant species to get established. Per Rule
3.1.10 (6), Methods of weed control shall be employed for all prohibited noxious weed species, and whenever
invasion of a reclaimed area by other weed species seriously threatens the continued development of the desired
vegetation. This is not seen as a problem due to an active weed management plan. However, this is noted as a tool
to monitor progress during future inspections.
In an effort to ensure the financial warranty remains adequate to reclaim this site per the requirements of the
approved reclamation plan, DRMS will update the reclamation cost estimate. The estimate will be forwarded to the
operator under separate cover. The last bond calculation was done in 2003.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone
no. 970-623-5596.
I & E Contact Address cc:
NAME: Ed Settle
OPERATOR: Grand Junction Pipe and Supply Co.
STREET: P.O.
