Colowyo Coal Company
20~07Annual Reclamation and Hydrology Report
• • Lower Ta for Creek (LTC) -downstream site, located below active mining
Y
conditions along Moffat County Road 17 and represented on the Surface &
Ground Water Sampling Sites Map located in Exhibit 2C. Monitoring has
occurred from 1983 to 2007.
Ground Water Data -Ground water monitoring sites comprise one up dip and two
down dip shallow alluvial wells and are briefly described below (See Exhibit 2C for
location):
• A-6 Well (A-6) -located south of the mine along Moffat County State
Highway 13 and represented on the Surface & Ground Water Sampling Sites
Map located in Exhibit 2C. Monitoring has occurred from 1984 to 2007.
• North Good Springs Well (NGSW) -located along Moffat County State
Highway 13 and represented on the Surface & Ground Water Sampling Sites
Map located in Exhibit 2C. Access to this well is
• through Colowyo and represented on the Surface & Ground Water Sampling
Sites Map located in Exhibit 2C. Monitoring has occurred from 1983 to 2007.
GENERAL TRENDS
Colowyo currently samples each surface water site for a variety of quality parameters.
Of all the parameters that are analyzed for, several key indicator parameters are
identified. These are lab pH, lab conductivity, TDS, sulfate, calcium, iron, magnesium,
sodium and flow rate. Statistical analysis is completed and illustrates historical trends
for each parameter. See graphs for the trend lines in Exhibit 2A.
Surface Water Data -The Rz value for linear regression is indicated below.
Site Id Lab
H Lab
Conductivi TDS Sulfate Calcium Iron Magnesium Sodium Flow rate
(c~)
NUGSC 0.01 0.009 0.05 0.0465 0.0292 0.0022 0.0227 0.0977 0.01
LGSC 0.04 0.0889 0.1335 0.003 0.0007 0.0001 0.0024 0.1209 0.048
UWFGSC 0.75 0.0.6173 0 0 0.9758 0 0.6447 0 0.75
LTC 0.0191 0.0972 0.0489 0.0006 0.0147 0.0001 0.0011 0.0436 0.1028
Summary of the indicator parameters for each surface water site is provided in the
following tables.
Page 2-2
