baseline hyclrotogy monitoring plan to the Division in May, 2005, and
received approval to monitor groundwater at three (3) initial monitor
well sites. Groundwater data collection commenced at well NF-02 in
August 200~i, and subsequently at the NF-O1A and NF03A wells in
November 2005. Water quality and quantity is consistent within each
monitoring well with the exception of a May 2006 sample of NF-03A
which displayed increased hardness and sulfates. Since no other
' monitoring ~nrell displayed similar behavior, it is doubtful the chemistry
is due to a seasonal influence. Ground water sampling is proposed for
Spring 200i' irr order to obtain comparison data.
•
Subsurface water quality data summary of analytes and field
parameters per Section 2.04.7(1)(a)(v).
Well Sampling TDS/EC* pH* Iron Manganese
Date
NF-OlA November 30, 1130/952 8.84 0.08 0.071
2005
February 9, 1150/1570 9.38 0.08 0.013
2006
May 5, 2006 1130/1615 8.95 0.23 0.016
August 15, 1110/1660 8.85 0.49 0.007
2006
NF-02 August 9, 1640/2224 9.6 0.19 0.023
2005
November 8, 1610/2607 8.46 0.07 0.006
2005
February 9, 1630/1938 8.27 0.22. 0.005
2006
May 5, 2006 1680/2228 8.28 0.05 0.005
NF-03A August 9, 1300/2202 9.29 0.02 0.087
2005
November 8, 1310/2230 8.45 0.08 0.016
2005
February 9, 1320/1948 8.31 6.79 0.296
2006
May 5, 2006 1350/1968 8.41 0.19 0.01
*Denotes field data
Northfield's underground operations will be limited to and affect the
Ocean Wave coal seam which lies within the Vermejo formation of
i Upper Cretaceous Age.
