DRAFT FOR REVIEW
• Evaluate critical sections for embankment stability based on the information
gathered as part of this study and the proposed final grades after mining.
Summary Report
• Prepare a Geotechnical Investigation Report summarizing our investigation and
detailing our findings. Three copies of our report will be submitted to your office
within approximately three to four weeks following completion of our field exploration
and will include:
o A summary of our field investigation.
o A Boring Location Plan and Boring Logs.
o Summary results of laboratory testing.
o Four geologic cross-sections bisecting the canal and our borings. The cross
sections wi14 indicate relative existing ground elevations, approximate
proposed cut slopes, major geologic subsurface profile, and existing water
elevations at the time of drilling.
o Results of seepage analyses. The seepage analysis results will indicate the
sections evaluated, so'sl parameters assumed in the analysis and identified
areas of seepage.
o Results of stability analyses. The stability analysis results will indicate the
sections evaluated, soil parameters assumed in the analysis and factors of
safety for global slope stability.
o Discussion of excavation characteristics in regard to groundwater or canal
seepage.
o Discussion of potential mitigation options for identified seepage or stability
issues.
POTENTIAL ADDiTtONAL SERVIGES
The scope of services outlined above includes installation of piezameters that should be
monitored regularly (at least monthly) over time to evaluate fluctuation in water levels
seasonally and aver the period of time when the High Line Canal is flowing. to order to
property evaluate seepage related issues, it is very important to read the piezometers
regularly. While, as requested, we have not included this scope of work into this proposal,
we are happy to provide a."time-and-materials° or °per trip" fee, to measure and report the
water levels within the piezometers.
FEES
We propose to perform the initial portion of our services as discussed above for a fixed fee.
Our fees for the proposed scope of services outlined above are broken down in the
following table:
06501 PROPlCSP8P035 Page 3 of 5 January 30, 2008
Copyright 2008 Kleinfetder
KLElNfELDER 4615 Lisi Drive, Unit 115, Colorado Springs, CO 60919 1719} G32-3593 1719} 632-2648 fax
