DENVER VVATER
1600 West 12th Avenue • Denver, Colorado 802043412

Division of Reclamation
Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Reclamation Pit Number 1, Permit No. M-1977-153
Denver Water, as co-owner and permittee of Reclamation Pit No. 1, Permit M-1977-153,
submits the following Annual Report and fee.
Upon receiving the Final Notice dated March 3, 2008 I investigated and determined that
the original request for report and annual invoice were not received by the permittee
contact at Denver Water. Mr. Jim Dupler has provided a fax of the form which is
enclosed.
Reclamation Pit No. 1, also known as the Hazeltine Pit, is owned by Denver Water and
South Adams County Water and Sanitation District (South Adams). As explained in my
letter of January 30, 2007 the permit for the Hazeltine Pit No. 1 was amended in 2004 to
include four additional areas. The Pit is not as distinguishable as it once was because the
embankment between the Road Runner's Rest II Pit (Permit No. M-1979-195) and
Hazeltine Pit has been removed. The plan is for the two properties to be combined into
one large "cell" as part of the construction of a larger reservoir project.
Denver Water's contract with Warren Cruise and Associates to sort and remove materials
remaining in the Hazeltine and Road Runner's Rest II Pits is ongoing, having been
renewed in January of 2008. A Report of the amount of material removed as of
December 31, 2007 was included with the Annual Report for Permit No. M-1979-195
and is enclosed for your information. Because of the current economic conditions it has
been difficult to remove significant quantities of marketable material from the combined
area, and our earlier estimate of completing removal of the material by the end of 2008
was probably too aggressive.
Because the Road Runner's Rest II and Hazeltine properties are now considered as one
operation it would be appropriate to merge the properties into a single Permit. I will be
discussing the requirements for such Permit with your office. A map showing the two
properties is enclosed.
Denver Water check number 00171754 in the amount of $791 to cover payment of the
annual fee is enclosed.
CONSEZVE
Phone 303-628-6460 • Fax No. 303-628-6478 March 14, 2008
Patricia L.
