4.0 SURFACE WATER
Trapper Mine monitored one stream site and mneteen active NPDES discharge sites during
2007. The stream site Flume Gulch (S-1) was sampled during June and September 2007 to
characterize spring flows at this location. Fiow was observed at NPDES sites 001, 002, 011, 013,
017, 020 and 021 in 2007. Baseline stream site East Pyeatt (S3) is also NPDES site Ol 1. Sites were
monitored weekly throughout the year. Sites NPDES 005, 008, 009, 012, 014, 015, 016, 018, 019,
022, 023 and 024 did not discharge during 2007. Maps No. 2-1 through 2-3 show the locations of
these surface-water sites.
4.1 SURFACE-WATER FLOW
The 2007 flow data tabulated in Appendix C in Table C-1 represents instantaneous
measurements associated with NPDES water-quality sampling. Surface runoff was similar to
at the T Mine with the reci itation bein 3.3 inches above av e.
normal in 2007 rapper P P g ~
Figures C-1 through C-3 present the instantaneous flow versus time for the Trapper NPDES
sites for 2007. Flow occurred during the weekly samples between January 2, 2007 and June 12,
2007, and between September 18 and December 26 at NPDES 001. The high flow during sampling
was a flow of 179 gpm during three sampling dates in February and March which is lower than
normal peak at this site. High flows due to snowmelt at NPDES 001 and NPDES 002 during 2007
were less than average conditions (see Figure C-1). Surface flow at NPDES 011 was observed
during several samplings of this site in 2007 (see Figure C-2). Flow occurred during one week
from NPDES site 013. Figure C-3 shows that low flow occurred during several weeks at NPDES
Site 020 and five peak flows that were greater than 100 gpm occurred from NPDES site 021 during
•
Trapper Mining Company 4-1
2007 Annual Report
