Design Criteria
Topic Design Criteria for the Proposed Action
amendments shall be added, if required in the
Reclamation Plan.
Subsoil 109. Minimize footprint of stockpile to limit disturbance. Use FS
for regrading and contouring.
Erosion & 110. Erosion will be minimized through interim reclamation BMP
Sediment Control including, but not limited to, contouring, seeding and
mulching.
111. Sediment control measures such as, but not limited to, silt BMP
fence, straw mulch, site containment and sediment control
ponds will be utilized as needed.
112. Construction on steep slopes (>60%) would be fully Forest Plan
designed and engineered according to Forest.Service
standards and design criteria and should include an
erosion control and maintenance plan.
Geologic Hazard 113. Leases contain stipulations restricting surface occupancy Federal Coal
in areas of geologic hazards: Avoid areas with high Lease
geologic hazards to prevent mass slope failure in Section Stipulation
32, T13S, R90W, 6th P.M. unless specifically approved
by authorized officer.
114. Controlled Surface Occupancy Stipulation. Areas with Federal Coal
moderate geological hazards will require analysis and Lease
mitigation plans detailing construction and mitigation Stipulation
techniques to ensure stability of facilities in portions of
Sections 27-29 and 32-34, T13S, R90W, 6th P.M. and
Sections 3-4, 9-10, T14S, R90W, 6th P.M. unless
specifically approved by authorized officer.
115. No Surface Occupancy Stipulation- No operating on Federal Coal
slopes greater than or equal to 60% or areas surrounded Lease
by slopes greater than or equal to 60% to prevent erosion, Stipulation
mass failure and loss of productivity in portions of
Sections 27-29 and 32-34, T13S, R90W, 6th P.M. and
Sections 3-4, 9-10 T14S, R90W, 6th P.M. unless
specifically approved by authorized officer.
116. Controlled Surface Use Stipulation Surface use on slopes Federal Coal
