Permit No. M-77-526
P.O. BOX 700
HENDERSON, CO 80640
(303)289-1837
(303) 289-2865 FAX
~~~~~
''MAR 12 2008
j/®ivlaion viand Safety n
Mining
Our files indicate that the anniversary date for this permit is
March 28, 2008. The effective date of all information in this report
is March 7, 2008. Please refer to the attached Annual Report Map for
the location of areas discussed in this report. This pit HAS NOT
been granted a Temporary Cessation and it HAS operated more than 180
days this year. This permit was amended in 2006 to add construction
of a slurry wall to the permit and the current bond is $494,300.00.
We will deal specifically with each of the Annual Report
requirements as outlined in Rule 1.15 of the Rules and Regulations.
(1) Mining ended in the southern area this year, approximately 18.81
acres was mined south of the Plant Site. We continued to remove
material stockpiled in previous years and mine material from the
bottom of the northern lake areas. The northeast lake has been
dewatered and mining began in the spring of 2007 on gravel that
remains in the bottom of the lake areas.
(2) Backfilling has begun on the southern mined area and eventually
the entire 18.81 acres will be backfilled. Since most of the
mining area is dewatered the lake now covers 32.84 acres ± of
the disturbed area. The tailings area is still being used, but
when mining ends it will be silted in and reclaimed.
(3) We will continue to mine in the northeast lake area. LaFarge
may begin to mine the very south end where the slurry wall was
installed.
(4) We will continue to reclaim areas where mining has ended.
Backfilling will continue in the south lake area. Reclamation
will begin in the northeast lake area perimeter slopes as mining
progresses. Reclamation preformed to date has been successful.
