STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources S4° CO`0
NQ o
1313 Sherman St.,Room 215 + +
Denver,CO 80203
Phone:(303)866-3567 *1876
FAX:(303)832-8106 Roy Romer
Governor
Michael B.Long
November 2, 1993 Division Director
TO: TM McARDLE
FROM: KRIBACHER
RE: FORFEITURE BID NEGOTIATION
The earthwork portion of the Coal Gulch Bond forfeiture has been renegotiated
to eliminate the need for keeping track of yardage cut and/or filled.
Earthwork quantities have been recalculated to leave the "topsoil" pile in
place to accommodate slope backfilling as well as leaving the existing wetland
pond in place to further reduce needed earthmoving. By leaving these
features, it has been recalculated that 68,891 cubic yards are needed for fill
versus the original 90,500 cubic yards as bid. 5,025 cubic yards is to be
derived from a cut between transects C-C' and D-D' on the enclosed maps. The
difference between the recalculated yardage and the negotiated yardage under
Item 2 per dated memo October 19, 1993, 62,910 cubic yards, is 5,981 cubic
yards. This. differential earthwork amount will be addressed and will easily
be accomplished within the 15 hour set aside time under equipment rental for
the TD20 dozer.
It is in both the State's and Contractor's best interest to eliminate any
requirement for machine trip counts, cycle times and/or a need for a mid-
completion survey for yardage verification. By presenting the earthwork
portion of the project as a lump sum unit project work can proceed with little
disruption or anticipated delays.
cc. M.
