Approximately 500 shrubs were planted at the mine site . Project
work was completed on May 4, 1993 . Costs totaled $2, 390. 00 for
this Portion . Enclosed is a copy of the bid document .
Considering the amount of precipitation received, the site held
up fairly well. As expected, minor rilling and a small amount of
sediment has been transported off-site . Maintenance work for
establishing furrows and further site stabilization is scheduled
for late summer/fall 1993 . I don 't recommend that any work be
performed on the upper backfilled portal area and that
maintenance work be directed to the staging area, gulley cut
beneath the staging area and lower backfilled sediment pond area.
On-site trash as identified by T . Gillis per inspection report
last month consists of pre-law debris with the exception of minor
lengths of phone cable surfaced with the road pullback and a
length of culvert at the west entrance . These items will be
removed with the maintenance project this fall .
Anticipated future expenditures related to remaining reclamation
work at the Blue Flame Mine are described below. Reconsideration
for retaining the vehicle barrier should be made . If this is
removed, I have no doubt that off road vehicles will enter the
site . Besides a request made from the coal section to remove the
vehicle barrier, minor regrading and revegetation is the only
work envisioned .
