M-77-342)
Dear Mr. Humphries:
Included are the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) Annual 112d-3 Report for
Climax Molybdenum Company's Henderson Mine and Mill (Permit No. Iv1=77-342), and a check
for the $633.00 annual fee. Below is a summary of interim reclamation activities conducted
during 2007.
Mine Site
There were no new disturbances at the Mine in 2007, nor are any expect in 2008. No
reclamation activities were conducted at the Mine in 2007. Annual weed treatments occurred over
the mine property. The ground in electrical substations was treated and Clear Creek County treated the
county road easement to the mine in 2007. A complete site survey was performed and atreatment plan was
devised for control of Canada thistle, Musk thistle, scentless chamomile and oxeye daisy to be implemented
during the 2008 summer spray season.
Mill Site
The tailing basin water pool increased to an elevation of 8829.6', which increased disturbed
acreage in the Tailing deposition area in 2007 to 1,114 acres. This data is based on survey
information completed by W.W. Wheeler.
Henderson continued with the removal and relocation of topsoil that would become inundated by
the rising tailing level. During the 2007 year, Henderson successfully relocated approximately
70,000 cubic yards of soil both to the north stockpile, which is located on the northern end of the
tailings impoundment, as well as the SS4 stockpile located on the western side of the
impoundment.
During the course of 2007, Henderson completed the movement of the Barge pumpback system
further up the Barge channel. As the tailing pond increases in elevation, the Barge must be
continually moved closer to shore. It is not expected to be moved again until 2009.
