CHAPTERTWO <br />Alternatives <br />• The line is visibly inspected to ensure that all personnel, vehicles, equipment or other items <br />are clear of the line. <br />• Testing may be conducted on all or parts of the line to assure integrity of the line, prior to <br />placing the line in service. <br />Property Restoration <br />• Restoration of all property disturbed by construction includes cleanup operations involving <br />final grading to original contours and cleanup of all disturbed areas, including temporary <br />workspace and the access road. <br />• The utility conducts a final survey to ensure that cleanup activities have been successfully <br />completed as required. <br />• Temporary access roads and staging areas are re-vegetated and reclaimed as required. <br />Typical Construction Equipment <br />Typical construction equipment includes the following: <br />• Pickups and line trucks <br />• Dozer -road grading/shaping/pulling equipment <br />• Boom truck -all construction activities <br />• Flatbed/boom truck -haul and unload materials <br />• Semi-tractor trucks and trailers -haul structure components <br />• Construction trucks and trailers -haul materials <br />• Tilt-bed and lowboy trailers -haul equipment <br />• Rigging truck -haul tools and equipment <br />• Stinger crane/flatbed truck -material placement <br />• Mobile crane -erect structures/load and unload materials <br />• Digger/derrick truck -erect structures/excavation as required <br />• Backhoe -excavation as required <br />• Reel trailer -haul and install conductor <br />• Tensioner -pull conductor <br />• Aerial lift trucks -erect structures/string conductor <br />• Fork lift -material handling <br />GVP estimates that construction of the transmission line will take approximately six months. <br />Once the line is in service, regular inspection of the line is typically conducted twice yearly, and <br />maintenance is provided as needed. <br />2-47 <br />
