2007 Climax Mine Tree Planting Report <br />Executive Summary <br />Climax has dug and transplanted 1,571 trees and shrubs on the Robinson tailings pond, E- <br />Dump and Storke yard during 2005, 2006 and 2007. Overall, transplant survival is excellent; <br />91% of all trees and 99% of all shrubs transplanted are still alive (Table 1). One year after <br />planting (for 2005 and 2006 transplants) survival averages 96% for trees and 100% for shrubs. <br />Survival after two years for 2005 transplants is 79% for trees and 98% for shrubs. <br />Overview <br />Over the past three years (2005 - 2007) 1,571 trees and shrubs (Table 1) have been <br />transplanted on the Climax Mine property as a part of reclamation activities. To date trees and <br />shrubs have been transplanted on Robinson Tailings Pond (750), Lower McNulty Gulch (58), E <br />Dump (102), haul road (134), Billy Blvd (99), Storke Yard (419), SDP (6), and the public <br />interpretive area (3) across the highway from the main mine entrance (Maps 1-3). Most <br />transplanted individuals were removed from areas on the Climax Mine property within the <br />affected area. All transplants are watered <br />in within 2 days of planting, and treated with a general mycorrhizal inoculant. Additionally, due <br />to dry early summer weather, all transplants were irrigated again in June/early July of 2006 and <br />2007. <br />Habitat Management, Inc. 3 December 2007 <br />
