Savage and Savage
Memorandum
To: Donald W. MacDonald, Coors Energy Company
From: Michael Savage, Savage and Savage, Inc.
Date: November 8, 2007
Subject: Fourth Quarter 2007 Pest and Disease Inspection; Keenesburg Mine
File #: C-81-028
On November 8, 2007 I conducted an inspection of the reclaimed and revegetated areas,
as well as adjacent operational areas at the Keenesburg Mine for evidence of plant pests,
noxious weeds, and plant diseases that could affect the re-established vegetation at the
Keenesburg Mine. Vegetation growth has largely ceased for this season, though evidence
of excellent growth remains. In an effort to reduce this years growth of annual sunflower,
Danny Kipp mowed Areas 5, 7, 15, 16, 25, 29, and 30 in August 2007.
All reclaimed and revegetated areas of the mine, including the 1985, 1986, 1987, 1995,
1998 interseedings, 1999, 2000, 2002, and 2003 seedings were inspected by pedestrian
and vehicle means. The dugout area, the small cottonwood grove, the sediment pond
bottom and embankments, topsand piles, B Prt, and long-term overburden storage area
were also inspected for any potential problem areas.
I did not identify any disease conditions at any of the reclaimed and revegetated areas or
within the mine site. Nor did I identify any plant pests which had affected the growth of
the vegetation during the past or current growing season. No areas were observed that
had experienced any infestation or blight. No patches of noxious weed species were
observed, nor were any areas identified where noxious weeds, plant pests, or disease
showed a deleterious effect to the live vegetation.
C: Keenesburg Pest and Disease Inspection File
Danny Kipp, Keenesburg Mine
•
-45-
