Cover Crop
All long-term topsoil stockpiles have been planted with the approved seed mix #3.
• New Field Seeding and Interseeding
The 2007 new iField seeding consists of dryland and irrigated pasture for a total of 62.2
acres. Seed mix #8 was applied for dryland pasture at 6.02 PLS/acre. Seed mix #7 was
applied for irrigated pasture at 27 PLS/acre. Exhibits 2007-4 denotes the locations of the
aforementioned areas. To assist in the seed establishment and soil stabilization; oats were
co-planted with the approved seed mixes at a rate of 50 pounds/acre. Interseeding was
not performed during 2007. Several areas were retopsoiled and reseeded due to
unsatisfactory lift thickness, pipe line relocation, or poor drainage on production fields; this
is noted in Exhibits 2007-6 and 2007-14 respectively. Attachment 2007-B contains seed
receipts and shiipping papers.
Revegetated Land Fertilizer Rates and Pasture Yields
Fertilizer was applied in the spring of 2007. NH1 and NH2 fields are depicted on Exhibits
2007-1 and 2007-9 respectively where the mixes were applied. Soil sample results for
fertilizer rates are contained in Attachment 2007-A, test locations are in Exhibit 2007-9.
Rates varied from 368 to 7681bs/acre where applied. Various types of fertilizer mixes were
applied on approximately 184 acres; this is noted in Exhibit 2007-9. NH2 first cut yields
varied from 2505 Ib/acre to 4,575 Ib/acre are shown in Exhibit 2007-11, depending on the
amount of, fertilizer used, soil type, and frequency of irrigation. New Horizon Mine did not
harvest in the NIH1 area.
Weed and Pest. Control Activities
Noxious weed control in 2007 consisted of several applications. Target species for weeds
were Russian N~napweed, Canada Thistle, White Top, and Western whorled milkweed.
Spot spraying vvas done at NH2, see Exhibit 2007-5. The treated sites were small and
random in nature and too small to accurately depict on the map, however, the general
areas are depicted.
BackCountry Weed Management, Colorado License # 11410, of Norwood, CO, treated
noxious weeds. Various herbicides were applied at the manufacture specified rates A
surfactant and a marking dye were used with the herbicides to maximize spray
effectiveness. Incidental spraying of nuisance weeds was also performed in many of the
same areas.
A pest control program ran approximately three months this summer. The target pests
were prairie doc)s in the NH2 area. Gopher "gas" bombs were set in individual holes and
covered immediate. This area is noted in Exhibit 2007-14. Approximately 19.5 acres were
managed for rodents in the NH2 Permit area.
Label requiremE;nts, recommendations, and conditions were followed for all chemicals used
in the weed management and pest control programs.
Acres in Lonq_l"erm Mining or Reclamation Facilities
. As shown in Exhibit 2007-13, 89.2 acres are currently held in long-term mining or
reclamation facilities.
F:\Eng\DATA\WOrd\.~nn Reclaim Report\2007\2007RECRPT.doc 3
