Mud Creek Pit -Reclamation Permit Application - 112 (C) Exhibits Page i I of 67
of a spilled substance. The buffer zones are established for a variety of reasons, including protection of drainage,
preservation of Mud Creek and other stream bottomlands, wildl'rfe, neighbors, and prevention of downstream water
degradation due to sedimentation. No discharge of surface water is planned. The mining is planned to prevent
negative impacts on ground and surface water and to make maximum use of existing water resources in accordance
with state water law,
9. Wetlands information:
US Department of Interior, National Wetlands Inventory Map, Mancos quadrangle, 1998, as available on the website
(httpalwetlandsfw~ er.usgs qov) identifies three wetlands within the proposed permit boundary, and eight wetlands
within 500 feet of the proposed permit boundary:
FIGURE G-2. Wetland area #9 is the upper of the three ponds, and the only one in existence in the 1970s.
CodeslClassifications: PABFh: Palustrine. Aquatic Bed, Semipermaently flooded, diked/impounded. PEMB:
Palustrine, Emergent, Saturated. Palustrine systems are lentic wetlands. These are all common in the area.
Because mining has been designed to avoid these areas, and mined areas are not the major contributors of water
runoff to support these wetlands, no significant impact on wetlands is expected.
MrStone Aggregates, LLC' I ~ I F.f~ 2008 ~~"WASTEI.INF., INC' 2008 PN >000.1-4(009)
