ROADS:
ACCESS: The existing access from US-160, with improvements, will continue to be used as the sole access to the
site and property. CDOT is requiring that the curve on the road be moved further from the highway for safety (sight
distance) purposes. The entry shall be 24-feet wide with 25-foot radii, and the gate shall be located a minimum of 50
feet from the edge of US-160. Acceleration/deceleration lanes (tum lanes) are not required at this time by CDOT, but
may be required in the future, based on shipments.
PIT ROADS (HAUL): Four roads will be constructed and used in the permit area; three of these are permanent, and
one is tem ra
Road A Entrance to Plant Site A 2000 feet Permanent
Road B Plant Site A to Plant Site B 3000 feet Life of ermit, ossible future use
Road C Road B to Year 9 area 1000 feet Permanent, ma be narrower
Road D Road A to Year 13/14 area 1100 feet Tem ra ,Years 11 to 20
All roads will be constructed as all-weather, gravel roads, minimum 24-feet width or as required by MSHA standards
for mine haulage, mine access, fire and other emergency purposes. Roads will include drainage features (ditches,
culverts, berms, check dams, etc.) as required by storm water and related permits, safety berms or other devices as
required by MSHA, and signage as required by MSHA and OSHA standards for mining and industriaVcommercial
purposes. Permanent roads will be constructed to current Montezuma County Road Standards.
ROAD A: Road A wil- be upgraded during Phase I. The road will meet county specifications, but approximately 1060
feet of the total 2000 feet will be mined out and rebuilt at the new post-mining elevation in Years 15,17, and 19. This
will be a permanent gravel road for future use of the landowner after mining. Speed limits, dust control chemicals
and watering will be used to control dust.
Roads B, C, and D will be constructed in segments during remaining phases. Permanent roads will be left in place
and functional at the end of mining and reclamation; temporary roads wilt be removed and their footprint reclaimed
when no longer required.
ROAD B: Starting in Year 1, and assuming the asphalt plant will located in Plant Site B only in Year 6 or later, a
secondary access/haul road will be built along part of the western edge of the site and along the crest of the slope
separating the upper area of the site to be mined (in Years 1 to 6) from the forested slope and valley floor. This road
will be extended each year as mining progresses, and will connect along the north edge of the site to Plant Site B. If
Plant Site B is needed for an asphalt plant before Year 6, the remainder of Road B will be built in a single project.
ROAD C: Starting in Year 7, a road will be constructed for approximately 1000 feet east from Road B on the south
edge of Year 6 (Road C on Map C-3). This road will be approximately 1900 feet long, but the northern 1300 feet will
~ This is one of the permits which initially limits production from the site.
McStone Aggregates, LLC 15 FEB 2008 ©WASTELINE, INC 2008 PN 5006.1-4(009)
