Ill. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the King I and 11 Coal Mines flown by Harry Rooney on February 19.
2008. Tom Kaldenbach examined digital images on a computer monitor on February 22, 2008.
Fifteen photos were taken during the flyover; five representative photos are shown below. Image quality
for the King II Mine was poor, which hindered inspection.
The ground was partially covered with snow in the disturbed areas of both sites. The sites appear in the
aerial photos as they did in the previous month's on-ground inspection, but with less snow than the
previous month. No compliance problems are evident in the photos. Construction appears to be
progressing at the King lI Mine.
Processine Waste
The waste pile showed no evidence of instability. The face of the waste pile appeared well-maintained.
Diversion ditches extending from the top of the pile appeared in good condition.
General Mine Plan Compliance
Ground surface disturbance appears to be confined to approved areas.
Air Resource Protection
No dust problems were evident in the photos.
i
a
r .,.ram;'.• , r
Photo 1 —King I Mine, overview of entire disturbed area.
