i
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the Yoast Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the DRMS.
Aerial photographs were taken on January 31, 2008 at approximately 1:40 p.m. The aerial
photos were reviewed by Mike Boulay of the DRMS. Weather conditions were cloudy at the
time of the flight. The mine site was heavily covered in snow. No activity was noted at the site,
during the aerial inspection. The Yoast South area and the North Pit were photographed. Eight
photographs were taken during the flyover. There are few distinguishable ground features due to
the significant snow cover throughout the site.
Haul Roads
The main haul road into the Yoast South area and the county road along Sage Creek were the
only roads visible in the photographs. The county road appears to have been plowed. All areas
of the Yoast Mine are inaccessible due to the heavily snow packed roads.
Hydrologic Balance
Sedimentation Ponds 012, 013, and 014 were viewed. All of these sedimentation ponds were
retaining water and all were heavily snow covered. No problems were noted at any of the pond
locations.
General Mine Plan Compliance
From the photos, the site appears stable and no problems were noted with this aerial inspection of
the mine.
