III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Janet Binns of Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety. The mine is a reclaimed surface mine. The weather was cloudy, snowing and cold.
Signs: New mine identification sign at the loadout has been spray painted. Mine information is still
legible. Mine Identification signs at the Mine area are legible, intact and contain the appropriate
information
Roads: Jackson County road 12E to the mine site had not been plowed since the last storm.
Approximately 4"of fresh snow was on the roadway out to the mine access road. The mine access road
has not been plowed and was drifted over. Access by snowshoes was impeded by the large 3 to 5 foot
uneven drifts. The inspector reached the locked gate on the access road before a snow squall moved into
the area.No recent activity was apparent on the mine site as noted by the inaccessibility of the site. The
access road to the load out is snow covered and drifted over. Drifts were too deep to drive down road.
Loadout was accessed on snowshoes. The gate t the loadout remains locked and there was no sign of
recent activity at the load out.
Hydrologic Balance: Ponds F, E and D, were discernable through the snow cover. These ponds are well
covered with drifted snow and are not discharging. Reclaimed Pond G was undetectable under the snow.
Reve etg ation: Sagebrush, Rabbitbrush and wildrye were poking through the snowcover, at Pit 1, along
the mine access road and on the loadout site. Rabbit track were noted on the site but no other evidence
of animals were seen.
Records: Records are stored at Northwest Consultants Company(NWCC) in Steamboat Springs. Bob
Peterson was the contact at NWCC for questions concerning the public records. "Availability of
Records" form is attached to this report.
3 of 4 WHITE-File YELLOW-Operator PINK-Specialist
