This reservoir: was slurry-wall
lined and a 6" perforated drain was .installed north' and west of the. liner to .promote adequate
draining and to prevent mounding north of the reservoir. This drain pipe daylights into St. Vrain -
Creek. The purpose of this monitoring, well.program is to determine, the- effectiveness .of the '
perimeter drain.. ~ - ,
Our monitoring includes .recording the water level in the wells,in relationship to the elevation of
the drain and report if the well water level rises over a foot above the top of the drain pipe level:
The drain pipe. elevation is based on drawings provided by Carroll &: Lange, the project's design
engineer.
Three monitoring wells were, installed on November 29, 2007 by Terracon Consulting Engineers
& Scientists, the project's geotechnical engineer. The drill logs for all three holes reported the "
lithology to be clay with sand. ' ~ - '
The water levels were recorded on December 4, 2007 and were not over.one foot above the top - ~-
of drain pipe in a1~y of the three monitoring well locations. A second set of readings:was taken
' on January 4, .2008 and the.. water level at Monitoring Well 1 (MW1) had risen to 1.1-feet over
the top, of -the drain pipe. However; there .was no water corning out of the drain pipe where it ,
' daylights into -the; ' St. Vran Creek.. The water level in MW 1-had .lowered by the February
5~'readings. ~To date; we have not seen any water coming out of the drain during our field visits,
1499 VVest.120th Avenue, Suite 200 (303) 452-6611 • Fax (303) 452-2759 ,
Denver, Colorado 80234-2759 ~ . - www.applegategroap,com,
