c
III. COMMENTS- COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
General Comments
This was an aerial inspection of the Seneca II-W Mine. The site was flown on the afternoon of 1/31/08, and
Harry Ranney of the Division took 8 oblique and near vertical digital image photos. The images were viewed by
Dan Mathews of the Division on 2/04/08. The images covered portions of the"D", "C", "A", and "B" reclaimed pit
areas, the shop area, and portions of the reclaimed South Extension area along the ridgeline and in the 016
reclaimed watershed. All areas were under deep snow cover, with the exception of slopes along the crest of the
ridgeline near the south end of the 016 watershed, in the reclaimed Wolf Creek Block mining area. The Mine
Entrance Road, "A" Road, and Oil Well Road appear to have been maintained for access; other roads appeared
to be drifted over.
Reclamation operations in the pit areas have been largely completed, although various smaller scale reclamation
tasks and maintenance work will be conducted over the next several years. Winter activity consists of limited
road maintenance and monitoring.
No concerns were noted based on review of the aerial imagery.
3
