Road 20.8 Division Director
Trinidad, CO 81082 Natural Resource Trustee
RE: 2007 ARR Review, Lorencito Canyon Mine, #C-96-084
Dear Mr. Thompson:
The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety has completed review of the 2007 Annual
Reclamation Report (ARR) received February 7, 2008 for the Lorencito Canyon Mine, #C-96-
084.
Values as reported on the 2007 ARR form appear accurate and consistent with previous years
reporting and with work as completed throughout the year with one exception. The total acres
topsoiled and the total acres seeded exceed the total acres backfilled and graded by 1.4 acres.
The Division believes that this 1.4 acre discrepancy has resulted from the .4 acres topsoiled and
seeded at the service area and the 1 acre topsoiled and seeded at the loadout. Previously,
these acres were not included in the backfilled and graded acres (122.1). Even though the
backfilling and grading on these 1.4 acres was likely not significant, any acres that received
topsoil must be considered backfilled and graded to final topography. Please add 1.4 acres in
the backfilled and graded row, under the column "this calendar year" and modify the
cumulative total of acres backfilled and graded to be 123.5 and resubmit the 2007 ARR
form.
Also, in future reports, please provide location detail regarding weed control efforts either
in the text and/or on the map. This will assist in tracking weed control work completed over
the revegetation liability period.
We have no further questions. Thank you for your diligence in completing your required
reporting. If you have any further questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
K.
