This included
excavation, loading and hauling of on site materials. The borrow materials were placed in the
bridge abutment fills located at the 5th Street and the Riverside Parkway. Minor mining
operations were completed from June until September 2007. All Mining operations have been
completed at the site.
Reclamation operations:
Reclamation operations were started in November of 2007 and are on going. The reclamation
work includes reshaping the cut and fills slopes to a 3 to 1 slope or flatter. This work was
completed with a scraper and a small dozer. In 2008, the slopes will be amended with class A
compost materials hauled from the Mesa County Compost Facility. The compost will be spread
and worked into the existing soils to establish a seed bed for the future seeding of the disturbed
area. We have attached the current grading plan for the site. It reflects all of the operations
completed in 2007.
The City would request that the five year reclamation period start with the seeding of the site in
the fall of 2008. This will provide the needed soil moisture content for the seeds to sprout in the
spring of 2009. Seeding at this time provides the best window of opportunity for the success of
the planting program and the final reclamation of the site.
Storm water management operation:
The current storm water management measures are being maintained at the site. They will be
maintained as needed to comply with the storm water management permit requirements.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at 970-244-1543.
Sincerely,
J es L.
