III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Jason Musick of the Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining, and Safety. The final Phase III bond release application for the Golden Eagle Mine is pending
for the majority of the reclaimed areas at this site. Weather conditions were clear and cold at the time
of the inspection. Ground conditions were snow covered throughout the site at the time of the
inspection.
Revegetation
The ground was covered throughout by recent snowfall. Although snow cover was substantial,
noticeable vegetation cover was observed throughout the reclaimed areas. Good vegetation
throughout the reclaimed portions of this site was noticeable despite the snow cover on the site. No
revegetation problems or inadequate vegetation were noted at the time of the inspection.
Reclamation Success
There did not appear to be any evident problems on reclaimed areas throughout the site. The
reclaimed ponds appeared in compliance and no problems were noted. Good vegetation was
noticeable throughout the site. The main facilities area appeared to be in good condition and what
appeared to be good vegetation growth throughout.
Overall, this site is appeared to be in good condition for the winter season.
