PROJECT OVERVIEW <br /> The Ohio Creek No. 2 Bond Forfeiture Project is located in the Ohio Creek drainage north <br /> of the town of Gunnison. The project consisted of 1 mine site that is situated within <br /> Section 16, T15S, R86W. The mine site is on the Squirrel Creek (1965), U.S.G.S 7 1/2 - <br /> minute quadrangle. <br /> The project was bid in accordance with State bidding procedures. The project was <br /> awarded to JA Clarke Corp., of Gunnison, Colorado. Final project costs totaled <br /> $19,104.50. The project had the following changes to the original purchase order: <br /> 1) August 5, 1996 <br /> Additional quantities of trash were encountered during the excavation of the portals to <br /> verify competent bulkhead seal construction. Additional excavator time was needed to <br /> assess these portal conditions. <br /> 2) October 21, 1996 <br /> Additional trash encountered outside the work area needed disposing of as well as <br /> additional machine work to finalize a turnaround. Main St. <br /> Gunnison, CO 81230 <br /> Phone: 970/641-2526 <br /> Final Cost: $19,104.50 <br /> The contractor proceeded with grading without an inspection point regarding the placement <br /> of benign materials to be buried with regrading including block and lime. During portal <br /> excavation to inspect closure conditions, large amounts of trash were encountered. <br /> Revegetation was initially scheduled to be completed on October 7 and 8, 1996. Seed may <br /> have been worked into the soils too deep by utilizing the D5 LGP to "crimp" the mulch via <br /> grouzers. <br />
