United States Forest Medicine Bow - Routt Yampa Ranger District
~~~~ Department of Service National Forests and Thunder 300 Roselawn Ave., PO Boa 7
--,r-- Agriculture Basin National Grassland Yampa, CO 80483-0007
~~`~~ 970-638-4516
http a/www.fs.fed.usJrZ/mbr
File Code: 2$50
Date: January 30, .2008
Bill Clark
Grand County Road and Bridge
PO Box 9
Granby, CO 80446
Re: MM-YAM001 Red Dirt Pit
Dear Mr, Clark:
Enclosed is your copy of the Special Use Permit for the Red Dirt Gravel Pit, As we discussed on
our last conversation, please note the change in volume from 400,000 short tons to 100,000 short
tons. This change became necessary following an audit of this permit by our Regional Office, at
which time they informed us that 100,000 tons is the authorized limit for Ranger District
Permits. I want to reiterate that Grand County will be allowed to remove a total of 400,000 tons
as the volume estimates indicated. However, as a result of the audit, we will need to issue
separate permits authorizing removal in I00, 000 ton increments. Given the nature of the pit and
the need to process the material incrementally to meet storage and other resource limitations, I
don't anticipate this impacting your work activities in any measurable way. The only notable
difference will be that you will need to notify our office when you approach removing
approximately 80,000 tons of material so we can get you the next permit in a timely manner. If
you have any questions regarding this letter or procedural question regarding this permit, please
feel free to contact Kim Dufty or myself at 970-638-4516..
Sincerely,
.~
/.~
%' ;
SCARP.
