The pit became actively mined on April
23, 2007. Active mining in this pit ended on September 30, 2007. Attached is a revised map of
the permitted gravel pit area. Lined in blue color is the approximate area that was mined in
~-- - -- --2007: This-area represents an estimate of"T5 acres.-In November 2007, all ofthe area within
the pit that was mined was leveled off with slopes not exceeding a 3:1 foot slope. This area was
evenly covered with the stockpiled top soil and then packed, chiseled, and then seeded to grass
with variety and seeding rate recommended by the local NRCS. After seeding the grass, straw
was stitched into the soil to hold the ground from erosion. Approximately two days after
completion of seeding, we received approximately a foot of snow that lay evenly across the
land. This was perfect for the newly seeded area. I hope we receive normal spring moisture to
allow the new grass seed to get established. This spring I plan to fence the reclaimed area to
not allow cattle to graze the new grass.
At this time there are not any immediate plans to mine any more gravel from this pit in 2008.
However, if an adequate offer comes along some mining could take place. I do not have any
contracts with anyone to mine in 2008. If mining was to take place it would probably be
because more wind towers are built in the area.
~-~.~~
.? -7.200 ~
