Included with the report are Tables ARR-1 Soil Distribution Plan and ARR-2
Seeding Plan, and Map ARR-1 2007. Attached to the report are seed and straw
certifications attesting to seed mix and weed-free status for straw mulch.
Topsoil Borrow Area BA-3 was used during 2006 to recover topsoil for completing
reclamation of areas W-1 and W-3. Minor quantities of soil were also placed in W-2 and
C-2 at locations where galleys had formed. This soil has been/will be spread and the area
inter-seeded during 2008. About 3,800 cubic yards of topsoil were recovered. This is
equivalent to approximately six inches of new soil material for areas W-1 and W-3. Total
new disturbance at BA-3 was 0.4 acres.
Spreading of topsoil was completed at W-1 (3.8 acres), W-3 (1.8 acres) and the Service
Area (0.2 acres). The soil for the Service Area originated from the Jeff Canyon Haul
Road stockpile located at the junction of Jeff and Lorencito Canyon Haul Roads.
Seeding of W-1, W-3 and the Service Area was also completed (5.8 total acres). The area
was mulched with certified weed-free barley straw at approximately 2 tons per acre and
broadcast seeded with the approved Rangeland Seed Mix at 201bs-PLS per acre.
Re-seeding of the fill slope of the Jeff Canyon Haul Road was partially completed in
December 2007. The area being reseeded is that portion of the fill slope used as a fill
area to dispose of rock excavated as part of a State Highway 12 improvement project.
This material covered-over the original seeding of the Jeff Canyon outslopes completed
in 2002. Completion of this task is expected in spring of 2008.
