Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) has finished its review of the 2006
Annual Report, submitted by Bowie Resources LLC for the Bowie No. I Mine. In general, the report
presented the information in a well organized format.
2006 Annual H drolo~y Report (AHR)
All of the surface water and ground water monitoring stations were sampled in 2006. The required
frequency of water sampling and the required list of sampled constituents were followed, except for a
minor omission of field parameters for the unit train Ioadout monitoring well MW-2. There were no trends
of water quality or quantity degradation at either the surface water or ground water monitoring stations.
The 2006 AHR data appears to support the Probable Hydrologic Consequences predictions stated in the
permit application.
2006 Annual Mine Inflow Report
The Bowie No. 1 Mine has been inactive since late 1997. During operations, there had been very little
reported mine water inflows. Portals have been sealed for several years so the mine workings are
inaccessible. The Division has no questions concerning this report.
2006 Annual Subsidence Report
The Division has no questions concerning this report. Current monitoring should continue.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely
d ~-. -U t,~.c~,c.,o~.
~_~ Jose J.
