EXHIBIT J
Vegetation Information
The project site appears to have been disturbed by past agricultural practices and there appears to
be little or no native vegetation on the proposed mine site area. There is more vegetation in the
low areas along the drainage swale which runs from north to south along the eastern side of the
site. A few scattered trees are growing on the site. There is dense vegetation, mature
cottonwood trees, as well as potential areas of wetlands along the river, but the limits of mining
will not disturb the area directly adjacent to the river. There is also heavy vegetation along what
appears to be an old oxbox in the south east corner of the site. Based on the limits of mining the
oxbow area will not be disturbed. Based on a discussion with the Natural Resource Conservation
Service (MRCS) the natural vegetation on the site has been decimated by prairie dogs and other
circumstances. The site is mostly overgrown with weeds and saltgrass, other than the area
directly adjacent to the river and oxbow and a few limited areas in the drainage Swale. A
wetland delineation study was performed and will be submitted once the report has been
completed.
SerFer Project
DRMS 112 Permit
Page 17
