ANNUAL REPORT
Operator: United Companies of Mesa County
Location: Anderson Pit
File Number: M-2005-921
Anniversary Date: February 1, 2008
Anderson was active this report period. One crushing event and one gravel washing
event took place. This location underwent changes during this report period. The
proposed Redi-Mix plant, office, truck scales facility was constructed and is in use.
United constructed a landscape yard west of the plant. A noise barrier berm was
constructed along part of the northwest permit boundary. (in front of the Hutchins
residence) United plans to place straw bales on top of this berm in an effort to reduce pit
noise in the direction of the Hutchins residence. The majority of the future hay fields
shown on last years sketch did get planted and produced a cutting of alfalfa this report
period. United purchased an additiona180 acres (Kay and Marlyn McGrath's dairy farm)
adjoining the east boundary of the original Anderson permit boundary. This additional
area has been included in the Anderson mining permit and the Delta County Special Use
Permit. The dairy land will continue in agricultural use for several years. The first stages
of the mining plan for Anderson progresses from west to east. Eventually the pit will
expand to the east far enough to begin mining the north cornfield of the dairy land.
Weed management will take a step up at this location. I feel additional treatments are
needed to control the unwanted vegetation.
~ ~, ~~.~
Brent W. Kerr
Resource Manager
