ANNUAL REPORT
Operator:
Location:
File Number:
Anniversary Date:
United Companies of Mesa County
Preston Pit Extension
M-1980-022
February 2, 2008
This location serves as the home of United Companies Quality Control Lab. Landowner
is General Supt. for United Co. The idea of a slight wet mining lake enlargement is in the
talking stage. I don't see this happening in 2008 or 2009. No additional lakeshore
grading took place this report yr. Grading done several years ago is in satisfactory
condition. The previously graded area has places where natural vegetation has grown on
its own creating a pleasant appearance. The beach area along part of the west shore is in
good condition. Members of United's "Yatch Club" maintain the beach area and use it
for picnics and water ski activities during warm weather. Report sketch remains same as
last year other than traffic control storage yard has moved to United's River Road yard.
Weed maintenance is ongoing with a minimum of two treatments per report year. The
United weed treatment program is being reviewed this winter. I hope to expand this
activity to all pits.

Brent W. Kerr
Resource Manager
