ORIGINAL -PUBLIC FILE
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: -v~-t99~~na
INSPECTION DATE: Ut ~%1L
OBSERVATIONS
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the
inspected during the fiscal years 2007-2008. Present
Leone the operator.
INSPECTORS INITIALS: -81~
site as part of sites to be
during the inspection was Mr. Frank
1) Site is a small 9.4 acre sand and gravel operation located in Las Animas County with
in the city limits of Trinidad Colorado.
2) Site was not active at the time of the inspection. According to Frank there are
plans to convert the site into a 112 in the near future.
3) The steep high walls noted along the west side of the permit area have been cut and
backfilled from material removed from the active mining area along the North Eastern
side. Approximately 5 acres appeared to have been affected. Operator tries to
backfill the high walls, as mining is completed to reduce the liability.
4) Top soil/overburden was properly stockpiled around the active mining area and is
also being utilized as drainage control from the pit.
5) A small amount of processed material was noted along the East side of the active
mining area. Pit high walls both along the East, North and west side of the permit
area were stable.
6) No noxious wee infestation noted.
7) Permit sign and boundary markers properly posted.
8) The current warranty for the site is $15,000.00 for a maximum disturbance of 9
acres, and is more than adequate to cover the cost of reclamation of the current
disturbance. Since the operator is going to convert the permit into a 112, cost will
be adjusted at that time.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: FRANK LEONE
OPERATOR: LEONE SAND AND GRAVEL
STREET: 507 S WAl NUT STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP: TRiNnA~, c~ ~tn~~
cc: r CE
r BL
r FS,
r HW
r HMWMD (CH)
r
r SE
r WQCD (CH)
r OTHER
