Exhibit K -Impact on County Resources
Schools - This operation will have no impact on Elbert County school resources.
2. Residence needs for employees - The operation generally has between two and four
employees at a time, mostly only two. Among the current two employees one lives in
Elbert County.
3. Impacts on Roadways - Truck traffic to and from the operation is largely a response
to where the demand for product is located. A number of different products are produced
at the site including pipe bedding sand, construction fill, and others. In general, once the
haul trucks reach the county road, about half turn north and the other half turn south. But
on occasion, this balance may be biased in one direction or the other when particularly
large needs must be met at specific locations. On the average, based on the load capacity
of the trucks and the production rate of the operation, between 20 and 301oads would
leave the site per day. That is between 2 and 3 loads per hour. Of course, when demand is
high this rate can increase while on other days there may not be any product hauled from
the site. Product is distributed primarily in Elbert, Arapahoe, and Douglas counties as
well the southern part of the City of Aurora and the towns of Kiowa, Elizabeth,
Franktown, Parker, and sometimes Castle Rock.
4. Work hours - The operation is open all year. The work day begins at lam and ends at
Spm, plus lam to 3pm on Saturday. In the winter, sometimes demand for product is low
and there may be days when the operation is closed. But closure is rare. Large
snowstorms can also cause closure for a time.
Miller Gravel Pit -Special Use Permit Page 24 of 26
