(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1978-304
INSPECTION DATE: 1 /4/2008 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS THM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal program established by the Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety. The Triantos Gravel Pit is located 4 miles west of Delta, Colorado off of Sundown Road. The
site is a 112c-phased operation with 34.32 permitted acres.
The mine identification sign was in place and in compliance with rule 3.1.12. The sign is located on a post at the
main entrance on the west side of the gravel mine. The permit boundaries are comprised offence posts with PVC
pipe on top that are easily identifiable around the entire perimeter of the mine. Two piles of markers lying on the
ground were observed on both the south and the north boundaries of the mine. These markers should be installed as
soon as possible and photo documentation proving this has been carried out should be submitted prior to February
11, 2008.
The pit is currently not active. No equipment was observed in within the permit boundary. Adequate amounts of
topsoil and overburden appeared to be stockpiled for the permitted reclamation plan. Large stockpiles of material
were present during the inspection. Stockpiles of inert fill were observed on the east side of the permit area. If these
stockpiles are intended to become permanent fill at the site a notice of importation of inert fill will need to be filed
with the DRMS, per Rule3.1.5(9). No evidence of major storm water erosion was noted.
The current excavation of construction materials is at the middle of the permit area and moving to the east. A high
wall approximately 15 feet high and 200 feet wide was observed to the east of the permit area.
Various weeds were observed along the permit boundaries. Tamarisk was observed at the southwest corner and
also at the north edge of the permit boundary. The infestation was well established and needs to be removed as soon
as possible to avoid an expansion infestation. Photo documentation proving that the tamarisk has been removed and
or treated should be submitted by March 31, 2008.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
No problems or violations were noted or observed during the January 4, 2008 inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone
no. 970-623-5596.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Bob Kalenak
OPERATOR: Delta County
STREET: 501 Palmer Street, Suite 227
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Delta.
